With aging, we naturally lose collagen, elasticity, and suppleness in our tissue causing laxity, volume depletion, lack of hydration, and wrinkles. Scarring from acne or other injuries can cause skin irregularities and volume deficit. Dermal fillers can work to re-volumize, support, smooth, hydrate, and stimulate new collagen production for dermal repair depending on product selection and injection technique. Results can be immediate and last from 6 months to 5 years.

Bellafill stimulates collagen growth long term to help maintain your youthful appearance up to 5 years! The gel portion of Bellafill is composed of natural collagen and in its matrix are tiny polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) microspheres that provide a “scaffold” onto which your own natural collagen can develop over time. Again, immediate results are the norm but continue to develop over time with your own natural collagen production. Sculptra uses poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA) as a collagen stimulator to help restore the deep, underlying structure of the skin to diminish facial wrinkles. After a series of customized treatments, usually 3 over a period of a few months, rebuilt collagen strands begin gradually helping to restore facial volume and the look of fullness to superficial wrinkles and folds. Though the results are not immediate, the natural collagen deposition provides a soft, natural result that can last up to 2 years.

Prior to your appointment, avoid the following to minimize the change of bruising:
Ibuprofen/Advil, Aspirin, multivitamins, fish oils, and vitamin D/E for 3 days
Consult with your doctor prior to stopping prescribed blood thinners or aspirin
Alcohol for 3 days
Smoking for 2 days prior and 2 weeks after treatment
Ensure you enjoy a light meal and are well hydrated prior to attending your appointment. Your comfort is my priority. The treatment area is cleansed thoroughly and ice applied to numb the area though a topical numbing cream can be applied as needed. I use a variety of techniques to inject the chosen dermal filler depending on location and type of filler.
Post-Treatment
There is minimal to no downtime after dermal filler treatments. There can be minor swelling that can easily be controlled with ice to the area as needed. On occasion, bruising can occur. This will heal as fast as your body allows and can resolve a bit quicker with taking arnica tablets for a few days post treatment. Dermal fillers can be malleable for 24 to 48 hours, so ensure to not put pressure on treatment areas by sleeping on your back during this time and avoiding facials or face down massages for at least 1 week. If you have a medical history of herpes simplex virus/cold sores, I provide a dose of antiviral medication that can help to avoid any flare up after treatment.
