How It Works

Lumecca is the most powerful intense pulsed light (IPL) to treat pigmented and vascular lesions. After just one use, patients notice significant improvements in the complexion and clarity of the skin. Lumecca operates using photothermolysis, which provides a photofacial through the delivery of a comfortable light treatment. Lumecca can be used on all areas of the body. The most common areas of treatment are zones that are regularly exposed to the sun. This often includes the face, neck, décolletage, legs, hands and arms. Improvement of skin appearance can be noted after only 1 session but multiple sessions provide even better results. Treatment regime depends on the severity of skin damage, skin type, type of treatment and energy settings used.

Pre-Treatment

Avoid any type of tanning 3 to 4 weeks prior to treatment or use at least 30 SPF sunblock

Avoid irritant topical agents for 2 to 3 days before treatment; ie. retinol, AHA, glycolic or lactic acid

If treating areas with hair, ensure to shave the day before

Lumecca is best for light, untanned skin. If you have a darker complexion, there may be a risk of pigment changes after treatment. If you take Accutane, it is best to wait 6 months after stopping the medication to begin treatments.

Post-Treatment

Use at least 30 SPF sunblock for 3 weeks following each treatment (better yet, consistently to protect the investment you’ve made in taking care of your skin!)

Moisturizer and/or makeup may be applied immediately after treatment

Expect redness and a slight warming of the skin that usually subsides within a few hours

Over the next 24-48 hours you may see darkening of pigmented spots; in the week afterward the pigmented lesions flake off

After treating vascular lesions, you may see the vein blanch and disappear or darken; this dissipates after a few days
